Temple University’s American Marketing Association volunteered at Grace Cafe for the Fall semester. Nine volunteers assisted Grace Cafe by preparing plates, serving food, and making the people who came in feel at home.
Grace Cafe is a local soup kitchen in Center City Philadelphia that serves a meal to approximately 200-250 people every Sunday from 5:30-7:00PM. They provide dinner, medical assistance with volunteer nurses, socks, and a friendly smile to the most vulnerable people in society. Volunteers are able to help out individually and in groups. Their most needed time of the year for volunteers is during the holidays.
TU-AMA volunteers learn about and see homelessness first-hand when they volunteer at Grace Cafe. It brings humbleness to oneself because there are able to do good for others who need it the most. We continue to work with Grace Cafe because we can provide someone with something that we take for granted. We are looking forward to our volunteering with Grace Cafe in the Spring.
