The city of Philadelphia celebrated its 65+ parks by hosting volunteer events to clean and green with the community. Temple University American Marketing Association (TU-AMA) joined the Temple University Office of Sustainability at Sedgley Woods and Norris Square Park! On November 14th, several TU-AMA members safely volunteered outdoors while connecting with local community members and making a positive impact. Volunteers collected leaves for compost, planted trees and bushes, and cleaned up litter from the parks.
Love Your Park is a collaboration between Fairmount Park Conservancy, Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, and Philadelphia’s Park Friends Network. By working together, these three organizations support communities by activating Philadelphia’s neighborhood parks and inviting people to get involved through volunteering. This past weekend, over 5,000 came out to show some love to the Philly parks.
Our volunteers learned how to plant a tree, the benefit of using leaves for composting and connected with community members to learn more about the local parks that are so close to Temple’s campus. We are grateful for the Office of Sustainability’s collaboration, and we are excited to continue to get outside and give back.
